The Therapist

Monica Zack, LCSW, MSS, MPH

My name is Monica Zack and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) currently licensed to provide therapy in both PA and NJ. I am also a mother of 2 young children doing the work of cycle breaking myself. I completed my Master of Public Health degree at Drexel University before going on to get my Master of Social Work degree from Bryn Mawr College. I have experience working in healthcare, with college students in transition, and have spent the past 4 years working as a trauma therapist with adults with a variety of presenting problems.

I am particularly passionate about working with other parents who are trying to break the cycle of dysfunctional family and relational dynamics. This may look like growing up with a narcissistic parent yourself and trying to learn how to improve your self esteem and set healthy boundaries. It might also look like being an adult child of an alcoholic or addict and wanting to learn new kinds of relationship patterns with your own partner and children.

Approaches used:

  • psychodynamic theory (what happened to you in childhood),

  • IFS (parts work, inner-child work)

  • mindfulness

  • motivational interviewing (the change process and understanding barriers to change)

  • EMDR (trauma work)

Conditions treated:

  • anxiety

  • self-esteem issues

  • depression

  • complex trauma

If this sounds like it might be what you’re looking for in a therapist, please reach out so we can discuss further!
